Poached by a client (!) she returned to set up the European business development and marketing department for an Australian gaming company and is now heading up the UK operation for a Norwegian company that has developed a realtime payment system through the mobile interface.

Originally from Montreal, Wendy has 20 years (13 in Europe) experience in film/payTV channel startup and program buying, beginning as an entertainment lawyer and then spending the bulk of her career as a senior movie buyer/TV executive in various international networks.

Before forming Rights Stuff (1999), she was CEO of Canal+ International Acquisitions, (and prior to that, VP Program Acquisition/Special Projects) – in the centralized joint program-buying group (FilmNet/Nethold/Canal+) (1993-98), with a particular specialization in major MPAA studio “output’’ deals.

Prior to that she was M.D. Alliance-Atlantis in Europe (1991-93) and before that, VP Program Acquisition for First Choice:Movie Network, (1984-91)

Wendy has a Bachelor of Laws Degree (L.L.B.) from Queens University, after a year of BA/MBA courses in McGill andUniversity of Toronto. She is a member of both the Law Society (Upper Canada) and on the Roll of Solicitors in the UK. Earlier she also practiced law in Canada with Blake Cassels & Graydon; Silverstein’s; and, still earlier, was one of 10 appointed as Law Clerk to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

Recognized as an innovator in consumer-facing entertainment and online community services, Beau also serves as a Mentor for The American Film Institute’s Advanced TV Workshop, which explores the effect of new media and the digital infrastructure on television programming, by building prototypes of new-generation TV programming. Additionally, Beau was the Executive Producer of an interactive online game site with sustained 8-hour average user sessions; served as a retained consultant to the founder of the largest web community on the Internet (which is now a part of Yahoo!); and was one of the founders of Pricegrabber.com, a successful online consumer price comparison site and service.

Willms Buhse joined CoreMedia, with Deutsche Telekom as lead investor, in November 2003, where he is a member of the executive board and heads the product and marketing division. His responsibility ies include global marketing and communication as well as product management for CoreMedia’s Smart Content Technology, that is used by over 100 customers such as Bertelsmann, Continental, DaimlerChrysler, Deutsche Telekom, Debitel, O2, EPCOS, NEC/Mitsubishi, Nokia, SEAT, T-Mobile, T-Online, Wincor Nixdorf, and the German government.

Mr. Buhse is author and editor of two books and has been speaking at about 80 conferences on the subject digital distribution in the media industry. As interview partner for journalists and analysts, he has been quoted in Billboard, Computerweek, Die Zeit, Frankfurter Allgemeine, Herald Tribune, Musicweek, Music&Copyright, N-TV, Reuters, Spiegel, VDI Nachrichten and numerous research studies. In addition he advised the European Commission and several parliaments in the field of copyright legislation.

In early 2003, Willms Buhse was elected as Vice Chair for the Open Mobile Alliance Download and DRM Group (OMA DLDRM). This group released the first open DRM Standard, that is currently being implemented in many hand sets and in operator networks (OMA DRM v1.0).

Prior of joining CoreMedia, Willms Buhse worked for over five years at Bertelsmann’s world-wide headquarter in Gütersloh, Germany, in Hamburg and in New York. At Bertelsmann's New Technologies Group he began in 1998 as a technology consultant and was quickly promoted to assistant director of new technologies and strategy. During a four-year-long stay at BMG’s headquarter in New York he was co-founder of Bertelsmann Digital World Services, a pioneer in the field of digital rights management (DRM). In various positions, including Senior Director of Marketing and Head of Consulting, he has worked with clients like 3, ATT, BMG, HP, Lycos, Matsushita, Napster, Orange, Universal and others.

Before joining Bertelsmann, Mr. Buhse was a consultant in technology and strategy projects at the German top-management consultancy group, Roland Berger & Partner and advised companies like Volkswagen and Deutsche Bahn. During a European Union Scholarship at the University of Madrid / Alcala de Henares, Mr. Buhse spent his time working in the field of information management in the Spanish airport industry.

Juha Christensen is president of Macromedia's mobile and devices business aimed at consumers, mobile operators, handset manufacturers, and consumer electronics manufacturers. In this role, he leads planning, engineering, marketing, and sales of innovative solutions and technologies that "light up" devices ranging from mobile phones to consumer electronics devices such as PDAs, DVD players, interactive children's toys, and set-top boxes.
Prior to joining Macromedia, Christensen served as corporate vice president of Microsoft's Mobile Devices Group from 2000 to 2003, where he was responsible for building Microsoft's franchise in the mobile industry. During his tenure, multiple products were brought to market including Smartphone, Pocket PC, Pocket PC Phone Edition, and Mobile Information Server. Christensen is also credited with building Microsoft's operator centric business model.
In 1996, Christensen co-founded Symbian, Ltd., which began as a Psion PLC spin-off. He developed the business and operational strategy, as well as initiated and led the negotiations with Nokia, Ericsson, Motorola, and Matsushita to bring them into the venture. Christensen served on Symbian's board of directors and managed the company's commercial activities, including marketing, sales, account management, business development, evangelism, product planning, product management, and all overseas operations.
From 1992, Christensen worked at Psion PLC, where he was responsible for delivering several of its pioneering palmtop products as well as pioneering wireless data solutions such as GSM-based and Mobitex/RAM based mobile messaging products.
Christensen currently serves on the boards of Action Engine, Inc., ExpandIT Solutions A/S, and Skyspire, Inc.

As Senior Vice President of Digital Development & Distribution for EMI Music, Ted Cohen oversees worldwide digital business development for this “big five” record company, which includes labels such as Capitol, Virgin, Angel/Blue Note, Parlophone and Chrysalis. Under Cohen’s guidance, EMI has led the industry with its initiatives in new technologies and business models such as digital downloads, online music subscriptions, custom compilations, wireless services, high-definition audio and Internet radio.

Cohen served previously as the Executive Vice President of Digital Music Network Inc., where he co-founded and served as Chairman of the groundbreaking Webnoize conferences. He currently chairs MidemNet, an international music/technology conference convened in Cannes each year.

Additionally, Cohen lead two highly successful new media consulting operations, DMN Consulting and Consulting Adults, attracting clients such as Amazon.com, Microsoft, Universal Studios New Media, DreamWorks Records, Liquid Audio, Wherehouse Records/Checkout.com and various other entertainment, technology and new media organizations. After an eight-year spell in investment banking, Malcolm joined Vodafone in 1994, and led the selection and implementation of the Amdocs integrated CC&B system in the UK and the ensuing consolidation of multiple businesses into a single system. Malcolm was subsequently responsible for all IT services providing billing and customer management capability to over 3,000 users.

As Vodafone’s Strategic Billing Systems Executive, Malcolm led the formulation of the billing and provisioning systems architecture for Vodafone Europe. In addition, he directed the GPRS and 3G IT programmes for Vodafone UK.

Malcolm joined Amdocs in 2002 from Portal Software, and is now Head of the Amdocs Content PBU (Product Business Unit). This unit is responsible for the strategy, road mapping and marketing of software products supporting content and next generation services.

Prior to this, Graeme was employed as Director of Business Development (Europe) of QuokkaSports.com, a broadband sports start-up, headquartered in San Francisco. As part of the senior management team, Graeme’s role was to develop and maximise revenue opportunities and acquire premium rights for the company in Europe.

He also spent several years working at NBC and CNBC International where he held a variety of responsibilities in developing international and regional commercial initiatives, as well as planning for the launch of CNBCEurope.com.

Graeme is married with one child and lives in London.

After completing a full time MBA at Manchester Business School in 1995, Leslie moved into the media industry where prior to O2 he worked at EMI and BBC Music.

Initially working for EMI Records in trade marketing - Classical and Jazz, he joined BBC Music to head up business development which included launching the double platinum Led Zeppelin at the Beeb album. In 1998, joining forces with Top Of The Pops producer, he re-positioned the brand including re-launching the now successful CD and sold the format to RTL in Germany with a local version of the programme.

In 2000, he was invited by O2 to develop mobile entertainment services and in February 2002, he presented the vision for launching the world’s first mobile music service over GPRS. Board approval was given to develop a new service and run a commercial trial in 2003 in the UK and Germany. The service included a new compressed file codec, DRM protection and specially developed device built by a division of Siemens. Following unprecedented trial success in summer 2003 with partners including Universal, Sony, BMG, Warner and AIM, O2 signed off plans for commercial launch of the world’s first mobile (GPRS) music service in November 2003 (press launch) and April 2004 (retail launch). The significant media interest generated by the first to market service resulted in the initiative being considered one of the most important strategic projects for O2 in 2004. Media coverage has been extensive including a Daily Mail article of 12 March 2003 which said the company’s shares rose1 ¾p to 43 ¾p on the announcement of this product initiative.

Leslie’s interests are wide and include playing the violin in the North London Symphonia and scuba diving in the Red Sea.

Mike Grant is Vice President of Marketing and Strategy at Superscape plc, a leading provider of mobile games and 3D graphics technology to the mobile industry. Mike joined Superscape in 2001 to reposition the organisation as a wireless company, following its long history of providing 3D graphics technology to the PC and internet industries. As well as setting the foundations for its strategy today, Mike has overall responsibility for marketing of its Swerve 3D product line, development of the Swerve licencing framework, and for management of product delivery programs within the company's handset customers.
Prior to joining Superscape, Mike was Director of International Development, and Head of the Mobile Communications practice at leading telecoms strategy consultants, Analysys Ltd. During that time he advised the boards of leading industry players, and government policy makers in Europe, the US and Asia on market, economic, and regulatory issues. He was during this time a frequent commentator on mobile issues on TV, radio, and the press.

March 2004 Ian was appointed Managing Director of Chrysalis Mobile, with a brief to establish the business as the leading independent aggregator and distributer of mobile music content in the UK, through partnerships with Media, Retail and Mobile Network Operators. Ian is tasked with building and driving forward a team made up of talent from the Music, Broadcast and Mobile telephony arena, with a view to creating a mobile content service that exceeds customer expectations in quality and real value. He is spearheading the development of Chrysalis Mobile with Nick Gregg with whom he jointly devoped the Group mobile content strategy from October 2003.

Prior to his new appointment Ian was Interactive and Digital Director for Chrysalis Radio group. During his time in this role Ian was responsible for developing new channels of communication for listeners and advertisers across the group, using mobile telephony and the Internet.

As head of the Interactive team, Ian is responsible for the creation of mobile interaction using SMS, IVR and the web, allowing advertisers with Chrysalis Radio new routes to reach listeners whilst also improving listener loyalty to the all Chrysalis Radio stations.

Ian is also responsible for the creation and execution of Chrysalis Radio's digital commercial strategy - focusing on new ways to educate both potential advertisers and listeners of the benefits digital channels can offer.

Starting his career working as a Sales Manager for the Bristol Evening Post, Ian joined Chrysalis Radio in 1997 as Sales Manager, and was soon promoted to Chrysalis Radio Sales Controller 1998 where he oversaw the Sales strategy for all of Chrysalis Radio.

Born in Bristol, Ian, 28, studied History at Leeds University and lives in Chiswick, West London, with his wife.

Paul Jessop heads the technology department of IFPI, the trade association that represents the international recording industry. As Chief Technology Officer, he is responsible for all the collective technical activity in the industry. He works closely with IFPI’s legal department on the evolution of internet related legislation and with IFPI’s anti-piracy experts in both the online and offline worlds.

Central to IFPI’s leadership in the transition to internet delivery of music is the development, promotion and operation of identification schemes – International Standard Recording Code (ISRC) for tracks and the Global Release Identifier (GRid) for electronic products – both of which are managed by Paul’s department.

Paul is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, a Member of the British Computer Society, the Audio Engineering Society and the Royal Institution of Great Britain. He obtained a degree in Engineering and Computer Science at Cambridge and a post-graduate Diploma in Management Studies at Oxford.

Paul enjoys travelling with his family – a wife and two sons, who are all scuba enthusiasts. Paul is a Divemaster and has held an amateur radio licence since 1975. He rides a BMW motorcycle and hopes to return to flying gliders as soon as the current issues in online music distribution are resolved.

Kenny joined Motorola from Nortel Networks where he was responsible for defining Nortel’s gaming strategy for 3G. Mr David Poticny,

In his role as President, Lucent Technologies Europe, David Poticny is responsible for all Integrated Network Solutions (fixed-line) and Mobility Solutions sales, business development and business operations in Europe. Poticny is charged with aligning Lucent’s sales resources across Europe in the most cost effective way and to fully leverage Lucent’s collective expertise, knowledge and other synergies across the entire business.
Poticny has also been appointed as chairperson of Lucent’s German Supervisory Board. The role of this Board is to supervise and provide counsel for the development of Lucent’s business in Germany.
As President, Mobility Solutions Europe, from March 2003, Poticny was responsible for all Mobility Solutions sales and business operations in Europe. He was formerly Vice President of Mobility Solutions, where he was responsible for Wireless Global Strategy for all wireless infrastructure products and third generation (3G) business development in Europe, Middle East and Japan.
Poticny began working for AT&T in 1970. He worked in development and support of all digital public switching products including the 4ESS and 5ESS and the 3B computer products. He was responsible for the first introductions of these products into commercial service.
From 1983 to 1991 Poticny was responsible for a joint venture between AT&T/Philips located in the Netherlands. He was responsible for technology transfer and implementation of public switching, transmission and operational support products. He lived in the Netherlands from 1987-1991 and was responsible for implementation of products throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Poticny returned to the USA in 1991, and joined the Wireless Business Unit. He has been responsible for all new product introductions including AMPS Intelligent Base Stations, Universal Micro Cells, TDMA-CDMA (AMPS Digital), Wireless Subscriber Systems (Wireless Local Loop), Japan Amplifiers, GSM, Intelligent Networks, and the use of 5ESS on wireless. His responsibilities have included systems engineering, development, marketing, product management, customer support, and sales.
Poticny graduated from the University of Michigan with an Electrical Engineering degree. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Illinois, USA. He also has a Master of Business degree from Loyola University of Chicago.

During his 8 years with Capgemini, Jawad has undertaken a wide variety of strategy projects, within Financial Services and Energy & Utilities as well as in TMN. Most notably, Jawad has helped develop an e-business vision and strategy for one of Europe’s largest traditional printing companies, and led a project to assess the commercial feasibility of a third-party application developers program for a global mobile operator.

From 1997 to 2001, as director of “Strategic Projects - Corporate Strategy” he was chief strategist at VIAG Interkom (now O2) in Munich. Alongside numerous fixed network, internet, and mobile radio projects he also had project responsibility for acquiring the UMTS license, heading the bidder team in Mainz. In addition, he carried out several high-level M&A projects for VIAG Interkom.
From 1996 to 1997 he was responsible for the sectors Telecommunications- and Media-Services at debis AG in Stuttgart. His operational focus was on “Business Development” and “Balance Sheets and Controlling”. Among other thing, he managed the set-up of a new company, Tegaron, a specialist in the transportation telematics sector.
Dietrich Ulmer started his career at the Mercedes Benz AG. From 1985 to 1996 he held various positions in Berlin and Stuttgart. For example, he was personal assistant to a member of the board for three years. In his last function, as head of the “Strategic Projects in the Automobile Sector”, he was responsible for managing the commercial aspects of major international projects and was also responsible for the regional strategy for North America.
Dietrich Ulmer gained his doctorate in sociology at Konstanz University in 1989.
He also holds a masters degree in mechanical engineering from the Technical University (RWTH) in Aachen (1982) as well as a masters in economics also from the RWTH which he completed in 1985.
